Includes: correspondence, Simmerone Leasing and Mining Company stock certificates, typescript of an essay by Robert O'Brien entitled "The Man Who Made San Francisco," documents concerning the award of a contract (1868-1869) to David Hewes for grading San Francisco's Polk Street, correspondence with the Hewes family regarding the gold spikes once in the possession of the Hewes famly, an invoice (May 4, 1869) to David Hewes for the finishing of two gold spikes, and articles about Oakland's Cameron-Stanford House, once occupied by the David Hewes Family.
