This album consists of photographs of the construction of the Martinez to Benecia Southern Pacific railroad bridge. This album was produced by Swadley Commercial Photographer of San Francisco, California. There are numerous very interesting construction photos but this book only scratches the surface on the entire project. At the end of the book there are a number of photos of the people who were instrumental in the project.

History / Biographical
Construction of the Southern Pacific Carquinez Bridge began on May 1, 1929 and the first train ran October 15, 1930. It was 5,603 feet in length. The formal dedication was held on November 1, 1930.
