The California Pacific Railroad Company built the first railroad bridge across the Sacramento River at Sacramento. The first train crossed on January 29, 1870. View is looking west from station across the Sacramento River.

Railroad bridge (built 1878) across the Sacramento River. View from the Yolo County side, is looking east, towards west side of the Central Pacific Railroad passenger station (completed 1879). This bridge was replaced in 1895.

Main and Centre Streets, Edd's Block, Stockton, Cal. Photographer is John Pitcher Spooner (1845-1917), active in Stockton from 1867, 1870-ca. 1900.

Description
Freight train photographed at McConnells near Elk Grove. The consist includes four box cars and a long caboose. The second No. 135 was completed in 1873, part of the first group of locomotives built at the Sacramento Shops. It was scrapped in 1891. The photograph may date from the late 1870s to 1880s.
